Abstract:
The morphological characteristics of two populations of wild
Coelomactra antiquata inhabiting in coasts of Fujian and Jiangsu provinces of China were compared. The study took two wild
C.
antiquata of the same shell length and at the same age as samples, observing five quantitative characters such as shell length, shell height, shell width, shell weight as well as umbo length and width. Multivariation analysis of the morphological differences of
C.
antiquata was conducted by using four kinds of mathematics statistic methods. The results showed that there was significant and very significant differences among the five quantitative characters of
C.
antiquata inhabiting in coasts of Changle, Fujian and of Rudong, Jiangsu; the test values of disparity coefficients of the mean (C, D) exceeded 1.28, indicating sub-species divergence.
