This paper reported the effect of fouling organisms on cultivation of shellfish, and introduced the settlement mechanism of fouling organisms. Then, the control methods were discussed from physical, chemical, biological aspects. It was indicated that biological technology was the best way for the prevention and protection of ecology environment. Moreover, some new viewpoints about the beneficial effects of fouling organisms on shellfish cultivation were introduced.
