A general evaluation of fishery economic power for county areas in Fujian Province

Based on the statistical data in 2003 and 2004, this paper, adopting some appropriate economic indexes of fishery, applied the factor analysis method to analyze the general power of fishery economy in the county areas in Fujian Province. The result showed that the 21 variables chosen for factor analysis can be reduced to 6 common factors. Then we calculated the individual and synthetical factor scores of each case. According to the scores they got, the orders of fishery economic power for each region was ranked. Therefore, the difference among them was analyzed and some suggestions were put forward. The result of this study will offer some valuable information for fishery development strategy and fishery management in Fujian Province.
