Abstract
We determined the amino acid (AA) compositions of ovary, hepatopancreas and whole body of wild female Penaeus monodon in different ovarian development stages, which were from the sea area of South Hainan Island. Results show that, the contents of Tau are significantly different from each other(P0.05)in the whole body of P. monodon during ovarian primary stage (ovary Ⅰand Ⅵ), medium stage (ovary Ⅱ, Ⅲ and Ⅳ) and the highest stage (ovary Ⅴ); and the contents from high to low is medium stage, the highest stage and primary stage. The contents of the other AA, total AA and total EAA are not significantly different (P0.05). The total AA contents of hepatopancreas and ovary both increase with ovarian development, while decrease just before spawning (V stage), which are not significantly different from each other(P0.05). Five amino acids of ovary are at crest value during medium stage, which are Asp, Glu, Pro, Tyr and Lys.
