Morphological changes of different developmental stages of spore germination of Gloiopeltis tenax

  • Morphological changes of each developing phases of Gloiopeltis tenax spore from spore attachment to formation of burgeons were investigated in the laboratory. G.tenax spores include tetraspore and carpospore which both like balls, having similar morpha and size with a diameter of about 22.0 m. Development process and morphological changes of these two spore species were also similar. Under the incubation conditions such as salinity of 32, temperature of 16℃ and light intensity of 6 000 lx (photonperiod of 12 h︰12 h LD), the first spore division occurred 22 hours after attachment, and further cell divisions formed a multicellular disk after 6 days. The disk which developed most quickly began to germinate burgeons after 80 days. Morphological changes of different developing phases of G.tenax spore were similar to those of G.furcata spore.
