Abstract:
We carried out a series of fishing experiments with two sets of Light Emission Diode (LED) lamps in China coastal waters to explore energy-saving fishery. Comparing the catches of Decapterus maruadsi and Trachurus japonicus around the white-green LED lamp to the catches around the blue LED lamp with t-test analysis, we confirm that the white-green LED lamp is superior to the blue LED lamp for catching D.maruadsi and is vastly superior to the blue LED lamp for catching horse mackerel. Results confirm that light trapping fish experiments findings in laboratory flume can be good guidance to marine fishing practice.
